The physical therapy team at Winchester Orthopaedic Associates is skilled in a variety of techniques. Depending on your condition, they may recommend one or more of the following treatments as part of your personalized plan of care.
Dry Needling
Dry needling, or trigger point needling, involves inserting fine needles without medication or injection into specific areas of your body. This method may relieve pain and improve range of motion. This technique is different from acupuncture in that it relies on modern Western medicine rather than traditional Chinese medicine.
Taping
This method uses a special kind of tape applied to specific areas of your body to improve posture, reduce pain & increase blood supply to the area. Taping may help recovery from sports injuries or other cases of tight, shortened muscles.
Vestibular Rehabilitation
Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialized exercise and positional based program that helps improve balance and reduce headaches and dizziness. This program may help reduce frequent falls, migraines, and vertigo.
Manual Therapy
With this method, your physical therapist uses their hands to manipulate your muscles and tissue with mobilization, stretching, and/or massage. We also utilize instruments, or tools, to aide in providing manual therapy to tight muscle groups.
Exercise Prescription
Our therapists will design a personalized exercise program to ensure proper movement patterns to promote a successful rehab. Development of your exercise routine will vary throughout your treatment and be adjusted accordingly to progress your healing.
Prehab
Prehab can help prevent future injuries by strengthening your most vulnerable areas. Although anyone can benefit from prehab PT sessions, this technique is most important for athletes and candidates for surgery.
Aquatic Therapy
Only available at the Ranson location, aquatic therapy allows you to strengthen your body without the full impact of exercising on land.
